My name is Olly, I am 17 years old and live in Bradford, West Yorkshire. For the past two years I have studied sport at Kirklees College.
During the project in Martinique I gained valuable experience coaching four different sports (Athletics, Gymnastics, Football and Basketball). The language barrier was a massive challenge, but I enjoyed this challenge, it has put me out of my comfort zone, and I have learnt a lot as a result of this.
I learnt to overcome communication barriers with the use of demonstrations to supplement instructions. I also learnt to check for understanding by a simple yes or no question.
I learnt to open up, interact and build new relations with people.
